Change often begins with a single person who refuses to stay quiet. For us at Women for 35%, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti is the best example of that.

A Teacher Who Became a Campaigner

Ransome-Kuti was an educator, a suffragist and a women’s rights activist. She challenged the limits placed on Nigerian women. She also pushed for their voices to count in public life.

She led the Abeokuta Women’s Union, which campaigned against unfair taxes on women in the 1940s. Her work opened doors for the women who came after her.

Advocacy Needs Courage, Not a Title

Her story shows us something simple. You do not need a powerful office to lead. You need to see what must change and have the courage to say so.

That is why her legacy still speaks to us.

Women Make Room for Women

Real change grows from small acts. One woman encourages another. One woman creates space for another. One woman reminds another that her voice matters.

These acts may look ordinary. Together, they build movements.

Our Question to This Generation

We often ask ourselves one thing: what will our generation of women be remembered for?

We cannot claim to be Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti. Still, we can carry her spirit forward. We can speak with purpose and support one another.

The Society We Want

At Women for 35%, we want a society where women are informed and confident. We want them to be fairly represented. Above all, we want them to feel free to use their voices.

Because sometimes, change begins with just one voice.

One woman. One voice. One difference.

Her Voice. Her Vote. Her Future.
